Let’s not dance around the fact: we’re more than a little proud to have been among the first brands in the world to bring pre-soldered, disposable needles to market. It now seems like something from an ancient era, but it wasn’t that long ago that tattoo artists had to solder and sterilize their own needles by hand. By introducing what would eventually become ubiquitously known as “traditional needles”— produced to the highest standards of sterilization and quality — we took our first step in changing the game. By not just listening to the artists, but also anticipating their needs, we introduced different configurations, groupings, and tapers. More and more, we were noticing our impact on developing tattooing techniques and innovations. The Revolution had truly begun.
To this day, artists still tell us they keep our first style specialization guide. We were the first brand to release a manual with instructions for each type of needle configuration, explaining what styles they are suited for, best practices, and other valuable tips. We have since improved it, but the original manual has become a bit of a coveted artifact for tattoo gearheads.
When your mission is to bring pristine tools to a field where the most exciting artists in the world operate, your brand should look the part. It’s also important to reaffirm your ideals every once in a while. 15+ years into the game, we felt it was time to reaffirm ours. So, we upped our visual and branding systems to better reflect our motto: art first, design at the center.
This process would also echo another shift in our company: finally releasing our cartridges. It’s no secret we are very fond of traditional needles, particularly for their character and precision. Like many artists, we wished cartridge technology could display the same traits — which we knew the market hadn’t solved yet.
So we took it upon ourselves.
Five years of relentless research and development, a lot of twists and turns, and heavy investment later, here they are. Every setting in the brand-new Revolution Needles Cartridges line was meticulously designed, resulting in a different body and inner molding for each category. They all boast ergonomic designs, are structurally optimized for intelligent ink flow and zero rattling, and come with color-coded O-rings for easy identification. Our Pro Team members were also involved in the process to ensure each product was shaped just right, given how the community clamored for a tool able to emulate the feeling of holding a pencil, pen, or paintbrush.
A logo to stand behind
The new logo combines a sleek, bold typeface with a sharp icon that remains brand-cognizant when used in isolation. This icon pertains to a shield, an object often associated with protecting one’s values and ground— as so many revolutionaries had to do throughout history.
A new chromatic identity
Black and purple are the heart of the new color palette — black stands for unwavering commitment, and purple for venturesome ambition. Their conjunction infers prestige with a rebellious edge.
A tagline to reaffirm our values
SKIN IN THE GAME is technically a new tagline. Yet, it rode with us all the way here — way before we had it written down. We started this business because we could play a part in the evolution and perception of tattooing as a splendid art form. We risked our skin by sticking to our values, never compromising quality, and only releasing innovative and non-opportunistic products. And we will gladly continue to risk it.
We may have spoken of the tagline so far as more of an internal motto, but let us assure you it was designed for the outside just as much. We know tattoo artists risk their reputations and think of their legacy whenever they ink a line. There’s not a single professional that doesn’t want to match — and surpass — their clients’ expectations. By supplying them with the best tools, we seek to help expand their overall skill and confidence when it’s time to experiment. After all, If tattoo artists don’t have SKIN IN THE GAME, no one does.
